    I personally know that DOMS is not required to build muscle, but I do think slight soreness is a good indicator of the damage caused during a workout. I think bodybuilders get addicted to the slight soreness and strive for it every day. I personally try to stay slightly sore. I seem to get better results that way. Very bad soreness leads to overtraining eventually. That's why I advise people to start out with light weights and take it easy the first week. Then start ramping the intensity up.

    I very much agree with everything you've said, but I still strive for a slight stiffness feeling from a workout. And I advise others to do the same. But when it come down to it, the training log is the most important indicator of progress! As you said...
